Nokia Delays E7 Rollout to Next Year

Nokia today delayed the launch of its latest Symbian phone the E7 to “early 2011” meaning it will miss the Christmas market.

The device which was originally expected to be shipped during the final quarter of 2010 is being held back to ensure users are happy with the end product, a Nokia spokesperson told Mobile News.

The spokesperson maintained the reason for the delay was not to do with the Symbian platform. "It is unfortunate it [the E7] will miss the Christmas period but we want to ensure the best possible user experience," the spokesperson said.

"It is not a software issue and unfortunately I cannot comment further on what that [the best possible user experience] means."

The Nokia E7 was introduced at the Nokia World conference in September and is targeted at the business market and comes with Microsoft Exchange ActivSync to provide direct access to corporate email inboxes. It also includes a four-inch touchscreen and full QWERTY keypad. It will retail for around €495 (£413).
